Have you had a live vaccination in the last 2 weeks, or are you due to have one in the next 2 weeks?
Have you ever had an allergic reaction (especially a severe reaction such as anaphylaxis) to any injection?
Have you had 3 or more injections in the same joint or area in the last 12 months?
Do you currently have an infection, or are you taking antibiotics?
Do you have a skin lesion (for example, a sore or broken skin) at the injection site?
Do you have a prosthetic joint or metalwork in the joint or area to be injected?
Do you have uncontrolled diabetes or problems with blood thinning?
Have you had major surgery in the last 6 weeks, or are you due to have surgery in the next month?
Are you pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you have answered “Yes” to any questions, you should not book a joint injection appointment. Please contact the surgery for further advice.

You will need to wait at least 3 months before booking your next injection.
